The United Free Church of Scotland has a concern for the wellbeing of everyone who has contact with the Church and is committed to providing a safe and secure place for all. As part of this we will take all necessary steps to prevent harm or abuse, whether physical, sexual or emotional. We will seek to protect those who are especially vulnerable both children and adults at risk of harm. Where appropriate we will co-operate with the statutory agencies, both police and social services.
The United Free Church of Scotland is committed to:
- Providing training for those who work with vulnerable groups on behalf of the Church as volunteers or paid workers on how to adopt safe practices and recognise and report harm or abuse.
- Ensure safe recruitment and working practices and procedures for all such workers.
- Offer appropriate pastoral support to those who have been affected by harm or abuse.
