Members
We are a friendly fellowship with members from a variety of backgrounds. We see each other very much as a family with young and old worshiping together. Some have been on the Christian journey for a long number of years and for others the journey is new but we seek to learn and grow together in the love and knowledge of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. We are always delighted to see new faces at our services or any of our events.
Leadership
The United Free Church of Scotland is a Presbyterian Church which means that its leadership consists of elders (presbyters) elected to the Kirk Session. Each congregation normally has a number of ruling elders along with a teaching elder who is known as the minister. The Kirk Session as a body is responsible for pastoring the congregation with the minister being responsible for the majority of the teaching. There is no hierarchy within the Kirk Session.
There are also Managers who are elected to the Committee of Managers and are responsible for the material matters of the church such as property, maintenance, finances etc.
Both the Kirk Session and the Committee of Managers seek to, by God’s leading and strengthening, care for the congregation and advance the gospel in the community of Lossiemouth.
Minister
Rev. Gordon Mackenzie
Gordon was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and after a number of years working in various fields of employment he eventually submitted to the call of God on his life to full time ministry. Gordon studied at Highland Theological College and was called to Lossiemouth United Free Church in 2015. Gordon is married to, and ably supported by, Laura and they have a house wolf called Murphy.
