…looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Heb 12.2
What we believe
The United Free Church and as such Lossiemouth United Free Church believe the Bible in its entirety (Old and New Testament) to be the inspired word of God and acknowledge it as our supreme rule of faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe in one God in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), who created all things perfect, (Genesis 1). However sin entered the world (Genesis 3) and has separated us from a holy and perfect God who cannot tolerate sin.
We believe God in his love and his mercy made a way for us as sinners (Romans 3:23) to no longer be separated from Him.
We believe the way was by the death and resurrection of God the Son. He (Jesus) took on human form (John 1:14), lived amongst us almost 2000 years ago, lived a perfect life and willingly went to a death on a cross (1 Peter 2:24), rose three days later (Mark 16:1-8) and ascended into heaven (Luke 24:50-53). One day he will return not as an infant but in power and might (Matthew 24:30-31).
We believe that Jesus’ willing sacrifice on the cross, as our substitute, to pay the price for all we have done wrong means that all those that confess their sins to Him and accept Him as their saviour will enter into a new relationship with God and no longer be separated from Him. (John 3:16)
We believe that only by this faith and not by any works of our own can we enjoy this new relationship with God. (Ephesians 2:9)
We believe the church is not a building but the people of God. The church universal consists of all those that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, all those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. (John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 12:13).
